Stuffed Manicotti

Ingredients
  Ground beef 1 Pound
  Olive oil/Salad oil 1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)
  Chopped onion 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)
  Garlic 1 Clove (5 gm), minced
  Tomato paste 12 Ounce (2 Cans, 6 Ounce Each/11/3 Cup)
  Water 2 Cup (32 tbs)
  Salt 1 1⁄2 Teaspoon
  Pepper 1 Dash
  Chopped parsley 2 Tablespoon
  Basil 4 Teaspoon
  Aniseed 1 Teaspoon
  Fresh ricotta cheese/1 1/2 cups cream style cottage cheese 3⁄4 Pound
  Grated romano cheese/Parmesan cheese 1⁄3 Cup (5.33 tbs)
  Beaten egg 1
  Salt 1⁄4 Teaspoon
  Manicotti 8 Ounce
  Grated romano cheese/Parmesan cheese 2 Tablespoon
Directions

Brown meat lightly in hot oil.
Add next 9 ingredients.
Simmer uncovered about 45 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Meanwhile, combine next 6 ingredients.
Cook manicotti in boiling salted water till tender; drain; rinse in cold water.
Use pastry tube to stuff manicotti with cheese mixture (or cut the macaroni lengthwise with scissors, open and fill).
Pour half the tomato-meat sauce into an 11 x 7 x 1 1/2-inch baking dish.
Arrange stuffed manicotti in a layer, overlapping slightly.
Top with remaining sauce.
Sprinkle with Romano cheese.
Bake in moderate oven (350°) 25 to 30 minutes.
