Homemade Pasta Sauce

We are going to make some lovely pasta sauce using garden tomatoes.
Ingredients
  Canola oil 3 Tablespoon
  Onions 2 Medium, chopped
  Garlic cloves 2 Clove (10 gm), minced
  Red wine/Beef stock 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)
  Canned tomatoes 36 Ounce, chopped
  Chopped parsley 3 Tablespoon (Use Fresh)
  Chopped basil 2 Tablespoon
  Sugar 1 Teaspoon
  Salt To Taste
  Pepper To Taste
Directions

In large saucepan, heat canola oil over medium high heat. Add onions and cook 2 €“ 3 minutes, until onions have softened. Add garlic and cook, stirring, 1 more minute. Add remaining ingredients and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer over low heat about 35 €“ 45 minutes, stirring occasionally, until sauce has thickened slightly. Puree in blender or food processor. Return to sauce pan and simmer 15 minutes longer. Serve with pasta.
