Cereal Griddle Cakes
|All purpose flour||1 Cup (16 tbs)|
|Baking powder||4 Teaspoon|
|Dark farina||3⁄4 Cup (12 tbs)|
|Milk||1 3⁄4 Cup (28 tbs)|
|Shortening||1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs), melted|
|Egg||1 , slightly beaten|
Sift flour, measure and resift 3 times with baking powder, sugar, and salt.
Lift wheat cereal lightly into a cup to measure and mix with sifted flour mixture in a bowl.
Add milk and melted shortening to the beaten egg and pour all at once into the dry ingredients.
Beat until smooth.
Pour out 1/4 cup batter for each cake onto lightly greased medium hot griddle (300° F.-325° F.).
See Griddle Temperature, When bubbles appear on the top surface and underside is golden brown, turn and brown on other side.
Serve immediately with hot syrup.
