|Sifted flour||1 1⁄4 Cup (20 tbs)|
|Baking powder||1 1⁄2 Teaspoon (Calumet)|
|Egg||1 , well beaten|
|Milk||1 Cup (16 tbs)|
|Melted shortening||3 Tablespoon|
Sift flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar together.
Combine egg and milk; add to flour along with shortening.
Mix just until flour is dampened. (Batter will be lumpy.) Bake on hot greased griddle until brown on both sides.
Turn only once.
