Shrimp Oyster Gumbo
|Onion||1 Large, chopped|
|Sweet red pepper||1 , cut up|
|Butter/Margarine||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)|
|All-purpose flour||1⁄3 Cup (5.33 tbs)|
|Water||6 Cup (96 tbs)|
|Canned tomatoes||19 Ounce (1 Can)|
|Gumbo file||2 Teaspoon|
|Frozen okra/1 can of 16 ounce cut okra, drained||10 Ounce (1 Box)|
|Uncooked shrimps||1 Pound, peeled and cleaned|
|Shucked oysters with liquid||12|
|Hot pepper sauce||To Taste|
|Hot cooked rice||1 1⁄4 Cup (20 tbs)|
1 In a skillet, add butter and cook onion and pepper for 2 or 3 minutes.
2 Stir in flour and brown lightly.
3 Add water, tomatoes, and file.
4 Simmer, covered for 30 minutes.
5 Add in okra, shrimps, and oysters.
6 Simmer for 10 to 15 minutes.
7 Add salt, pepper and hot pepper sauce to taste.
8 In the center of each soup bowl, put a scoop of rice and fill the bowl with soup.
