Rich Creamy Scalloped Oysters

Ingredients
  Oysters 1 Pint (Fresh / Quick Frozen)
  Toasted bread cubes 2 Cup (32 tbs)
  Melted butter/Margarine 1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)
  Salt 1⁄2 Teaspoon
  Pepper 1⁄8 Teaspoon
  Milk/Cream / evaporated milk 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)
Directions

1. Start oven, set at Moderately Hot, 400° F. Rub a 1-quart baking dish with margarine or butter.
2. Pick over the oysters to make sure that all the shells have been removed. With the kitchen shears cut each oyster into 3 or 4 pieces.
3. Mix the bread with the butter or margarine, salt and pepper. Arrange a layer of the bread mixture in the bottom of the baking dish. Pour the chopped oysters and their liquor over them. Top with the remaining bread and add the milk or cream.
4. Bake 20 minutes.
