Spiced Orange Wedges

Ingredients
  Oranges 4 , unpeeled
  Water 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)
  Soda 1⁄2 Teaspoon
  Sugar 2 Cup (32 tbs)
  Vinegar 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)
  Whole cloves 12
  Cinnamon stick 3
Directions

1. Cover the oranges with water. Add the soda and bring to a boil. Boil twenty minutes, or until easily pierced with a fork. Drain and cut each into eight wedges.
2. Combine the sugar with one and one-quarter cups water, the vinegar, cloves and cinnamon. Stir over low heat until the sugar has dissolved. Boil five minutes.
3. Add the orange wedges and simmer about twenty minutes. Cool, cover and refrigerate. Serve with fresh or smoked pork or duck.
