Savory Gourmet Onions

Ingredients
  Onions 6 Medium, sliced
  Monosodium glutamate 1⁄2 Teaspoon
  Sugar 1⁄2 Teaspoon
  Salt 1⁄2 Teaspoon
  Pepper 1⁄2 Teaspoon
  Butter 1⁄3
  Cooking sherry 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)
  Shredded parmesan cheese 4 Tablespoon
Directions

Season onion slices with monosodium gluta mate, sugar, salt and pepper.
Cook in butter for 5 to 8 minutes or until onions are barely tender.
Stir to separate into rings.
Add Sherry; cook quickly for 2 to 3 minutes.
Sprin kle with cheese.
