Pickled Refrigerator Onion Rings

  Water 1 Cup (16 tbs)
  Vinegar 1 Cup (16 tbs)
  Sugar 1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)
  Cinnamon stick 3
  Salt 1⁄2 Teaspoon
  Whole cloves 1⁄2 Teaspoon
  White onion 1 Small
  Red onion 1 Small

Combine first 6 ingredients in a small saucepan; bring to a boil.
Cover, reduce heat, and simmer 10 minutes.
Remove from heat; strain mixture, and discard spices.
Pour strained hot mixture over onion; cover and chill overnight.
Drain before serving.
