Filled Onion Shells

Ingredients
  Onions 8
  Salt 1⁄4 Teaspoon
  Cream of mushroom soup 1 Can (10 oz)
  Milk 1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)
  Buttered bread crumbs 3⁄4 Cup (12 tbs)
Directions

Combine onions, salt and 1 quart water in saucepan.
Bring to a boil; simmer for 12 minutes.
Drain; cool.
Cut thin slice from tops of onions; hollow out center of each onion, leaving 1/2-inch shell.
Chop onion centers; combine with soup.
Blend in milk.
Fill onion shells with soup mixture.
Place in 2 1/2-quart casserole; pour remaining soup mixture over onions.
Cover with bread crumbs.
Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour.
