French-Fried Onion Rings
|Flour||1 Cup (16 tbs), sifted|
|Baking powder||1⁄2 Teaspoon|
|Milk||3⁄4 Cup (12 tbs)|
|Fat||2 Tablespoon, melted|
Cut onions into 1/4-inch slices; separate into rings.
Sift flour with baking powder, salt and sugar.
Combine milk, egg and fat; add to dry ingredients all at once, beating until smooth.
Dip onion rings into batter; drain off excess batter.
Fry in deep fat at 375 degrees until golden brown and crisp.
Drain on absorbent paper; sprinkle with salt.
