|Butter/Olive oil||8 Tablespoon|
|Onions||6 , sliced|
|Freshly ground pepper||To Taste|
1 In a large skillet, heat the butter or oil.
2 Add the onions to the hot fat, in one layer.
3 Cook slowly until the onions are soft and a golden caramel brown, for about 30 minutes.
4 Stir frequently.
5 Slightly turn up the heat, taking care not to burn the onions.
6 Add in salt and pepper to taste.
7 Serve as desired.
