|Whole onions||8 Large, peeled|
|Bottled thick meat sauce||4 Drop|
|Grated processed american cheddar cheese||1 Cup (16 tbs)|
Cook onions, until just tender, as in Time Table.
Drain, and place in a shallow baking dish.
Cut a wide cross in top of each onion.
Sprinkle a few drops of the meat sauce in each cross.
Then sprinkle each onion with some of the salt and a speck pepper.
Press 2 tablesp of the cheese into each cross.
Bake in moderately hot oven of 375°F for about 40 min., or until cheese is melted and golden brown.
