|Yellow onions||3 Large|
|Shredded cheddar cheese||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)|
|Buttered fine dry bread crumbs||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs) (Fresh)|
|Fresh pepper||To Taste|
Preheat oven to 350° F.
Peel onions and cut in half crosswise; season with salt and pepper.
Place in shallow 1-quart casserole; add enough water to reach 1/4 inch up the sides of the casserole.
Cover and bake 45 minutes.
Combine cheese and crumbs; sprinkle over onions.
Bake uncovered 15 minutes more.
