Onions With Sherry

Ingredients
  Onions 6 Large
  Butter 5 Tablespoon, melted
  Salt 1⁄2 Teaspoon
  Freshly ground black pepper 1⁄2 Teaspoon
  Monosodium glutamate 1⁄2 Teaspoon
  Sugar 1⁄2 Teaspoon
  Sherry 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)
  Parmesan cheese 2 Tablespoon, grated
Directions

Peel and slice onions in 1/4 inch slices; separate into rings.
Blend butter or margarine, onion, salt, pepper, monosodium glutamate, and sugar.
Simmer onions until limp, stirring occasionally.
Add sherry and cook rapidly for 2 or 3 minutes.
Sprinkle with parmesan cheese and serve immediately.
