Meat omelette is a fried egg dish, generally made in combination with leftover grilled meat, spicy meat or boiled shredded meat. Although the term ‘meat’ is generally used for lamb and goat meat, the edible flesh of any animal can be termed as meat; for example, crab meat, pig meat (pork) or beef.
Preparation Overview of Meat Omelette
Meat omelette is made according to the recipes adopted by different regional cuisines, as there is no specific recipe for this omelette. The Thai, Mexican, Indian, Spanish and European cuisines are specially noted for having the best recipes for the dish.
Normally, leftover meat is used in the omelette, but fresh meat is always considered a healthier alternative as stale meats loose its nutritional value. Ham and bacon are added to enhance the flavor of the omelette without using many seasonings. Chopped tomato, chopped onion, minced garlic-ginger, bell pepper and black pepper are some of the other commonly used ingredients in the meat omelettes for more flavors.
Supplementary ingredients that are cited by most of the meat omelette recipes are Ranch dressing, Soy sauce, shredded cheese and milk. Ranch dressing is often included with sour cream and yoghurt to raise the volume of egg mixture as well as to provide sumptuousness. The inculsion of milk makes the egg mixture fluffy resulting in a light and airy omelette. Cheese is often added to impart a creamy and cheesy flavor whereas soya sauce adds color to the dish.
Either olive oil or butter is also used to fry the omelette. Quite often, the egg mixture is baked with meats, vegetables and other ingredients to make meat quiche or baked omelette.
