Fresh Buttered Okra
Wash okra; cut off stem end.
Keep okra whole if small; otherwise, cut in half.
Place okra in a 1-quart saucepan; cover with water; drain water off completely.
Cover tightly and cook over medium heat until lid spins freely, about 2 to 3 minutes.
Do not lift cover.
Reduce heat to the lowest temperature; cook 6 minutes.
Remove cover and add butter.
Replace cover; turn off heat.
Keep covered until butter melts or until ready to serve.
