Australian Christmas Cake

Ingredients
  Butter 1⁄2 Pound
  Brown sugar 1⁄2 Pound
  Eggs 5
  Rum 4 Tablespoon
  Flour 3⁄4 Pound
  Baking powder 1⁄2 Teaspoon
  Mixed fruit 1 1⁄2 Pound
  Cherries 1⁄4 Pound
  Lemon peel 1⁄4 Pound
  Mixed spice 1 Teaspoon
  Almonds 2 Tablespoon
Directions

Line a 3 lb pan with wax paper.
Cream butter and sugar until fluffy.
Beat eggs well and gradually add to mixture.
Gradually add the rum.
Fold in the sifted flour, baking powder and spice alternately with the fruit.
Place in pan.
Bake at 350 degree in oven for 2 1/2 to 3 hours.
Leave in tin until cold.
