There are 2 varieties of squash, summer squash and winter squash.
• Summer Squash like zucchini has soft skin. Every part of summer squash are edible.
• Winter Squash such as pumpkin have hard and inedible skin. Only the insides of winter squash are edible.
Pumpkin is the most important type of winter squash mostly because they can be cut open, gourde, and slowly rot over time.
One common use of pumpkin is as air sought tableware. You can serve a bowl of soup in the pumpkin shell.
