Easy Oatmeal Date Squares

Ingredients
  Flour 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)
  Cinnamon 1 Teaspoon
  Baking powder 1⁄2 Teaspoon
  Salt 1⁄2 Teaspoon
  Butter 1 Stick, softened
  Firmly packed brown sugar 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)
  Egg 1
  Vanilla extract 1 Teaspoon
  Rolled oats 1 Cup (16 tbs)
  Dates 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs), chopped
Directions

1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease an 8-inch square pan. In a small bowl, stir together flour, cinnamon, baking powder, and salt.
2. In a large bowl, beat butter and brown sugar with an electric mixer on medium speed until fluffy. Beat in egg and vanilla until smooth.
3. Add flour mixture. Beat on low speed until a soft dough forms, scraping down side of bowl frequently with a rubber spatula. Fold oats and dates into dough. Turn dough into prepared pan, leveling surface.
4. Bake 25 to 30 minutes, or until top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Remove pan to a rack, cut into 16 squares, and let cool completely. Store in an airtight container or wrap well and refrigerate.
