Ingredients
  Butter 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)
  Brown sugar 1 Cup (16 tbs), firmly packed
  Egg 1
  Vanilla essence 1⁄2 Teaspoon
  Flour 1 Cup (16 tbs), sifted
  Baking powder 1 Teaspoon
  Salt 1⁄2 Teaspoon
  Almonds 1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs), chopped
  Almond 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs), blanched
Directions

Getting Ready
1. Preheat oven at 350° F.
2. Grease a 8 inch square pan.

Making
3. Cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
4. Add egg and vanilla and beat well.
5. Sift together flour, baking powder and salt and stir into butter mixture.
6. Stir in chopped almonds.
7. Spread mixture in the pan and top with blanched almonds.
8. Bake in a moderate oven 30 to 35 minutes.
9. Cool in pan.

Serving
10. Cut into squares.
