Best Nut Bread
|Sifted all purpose flour||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)|
|Baking powder||3 Teaspoon|
|Egg||1 , beaten|
|Vanilla extract||1 Teaspoon|
|Sugar||3⁄4 Cup (12 tbs)|
|Butter/Margarine or salad oil||1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs), melted|
|Milk||1 1⁄4 Cup (20 tbs)|
|Chopped walnuts/Pecans||1 Cup (16 tbs)|
Preheat oven to 350F.
Grease a 9-by-5-by-3-inch loaf pan.
Sift flour with baking powder and salt.
In large bowl, combine egg, vanilla, sugar, and butter.
Using wooden spoon or portable electric mixer, beat until well blended.
Add milk, blending well.
Add flour mixture, beating until smooth.
Stir in nuts.
Pour batter into prepared pan; bake 60 to 65 minutes, or until cake tester inserted in center comes out clean.
Let cool in pan 10 minutes.
Remove from pan; cool completely on wire rack.
To serve, cut into thin slices.
Makes 1 loaf.
