Glazed And Spiced Nuts

Ingredients
  Unsalted mixed whole nuts 3 Cup (48 tbs)
  Granulated sugar 1 Cup (16 tbs)
  Firmly packed brown sugar 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)
  Salt 1⁄2 Teaspoon
  Ground cinnamon 1⁄2 Teaspoon
  Ground nutmeg 1⁄2 Teaspoon
  Ground cloves 1⁄8 Teaspoon
  Light corn syrup 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)
  Water 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)
  Butter 2 Tablespoon
Directions

1. Spread nuts in a shallow pan; heat in moderate oven (350°) 10 minutes, or until hot.
2. While nuts heat, combine granulated and brown sugars, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, corn syrup and water in a medium-size saucepan. Heat, stirring constantly, over low heat until sugars dissolve; then cook, without stirring, to 300° on a candy thermometer. (Syrup separates into brittle threads when dropped in cold water.)
3. Stir in nuts and butter or margarine until nuts are evenly coated. Spoon into well-buttered, 15x10x1-inch jelly-roll pan; spread in an even layer. Cool completely.
4. Break into bite-size pieces and store in tightly covered container.
