Ingredients
  Egg whites 3
  Salt 1⁄4 Teaspoon
  Confectioners sugar 1 3⁄4 Cup (28 tbs)
  Flour 1 Tablespoon
  Pecans 2 Cup (32 tbs), broken
  Dates 1 Cup (16 tbs), chopped
  Vanilla 1 Teaspoon
Directions

Beat the egg whites with the salt until stiff.
Sift the confectioners' sugar with the flour; beat in a tablespoon at a time.
Continue beating until the meringue stands in very stiff peaks.
Fold in the pecans, dates, and vanilla.
Drop by the tablespoonful onto a greased cookie sheet, using your finger as a guide to form into 3-inch lengths.
Bake in a 300° oven about 18 minutes, or until they feel crisp to the touch.
Cool on the cookie sheet.
