Nut And Raisin Squares
|Flour||1 Cup (16 tbs)|
|Baking soda||1⁄4 Teaspoon|
|Ground ginger||1⁄2 Teaspoon|
|Raisins||1 Cup (16 tbs), seeded|
|Nuts||1 Cup (16 tbs), chopped|
|Shortening||1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)|
|Firmly packed brown sugar||1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)|
|Vanilla extract||1⁄4 Teaspoon|
|Molasses||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)|
Preheat oven to 3 50 Â°F.
Grease shallow 9-inch-square pan.
Sift flour, soda, salt, and ginger together.
Stir in raisins and nuts.
Cream shortening and sugar.
Beat in eggs one at a time.
Add vanilla and molasses.
Add flour-and-nut mixture; blend well.
Pour into prepared pan; bake about 30 minutes.
Mark into squares; let cool in pan before removing.
