Noodles And Beans German Style

Ingredients
  White beans/Navy beans 1 Cup (16 tbs)
  Water 4 Cup (64 tbs)
  Dill seed 1⁄2 Teaspoon
  Onion 1 , diced
  Salt 1 Teaspoon
  Noodles 6 Ounce (1/4 Inch Wide)
  Bacon dripping 1 Tablespoon
  Flour 1 Tablespoon
  Chopped cooked ham 1 Cup (16 tbs)
  Sour cream 1 Cup (16 tbs)
  Cayenne 1 Pinch
  Soft bread crumbs 3⁄4 Cup (12 tbs)
  Melted margarine 2 Tablespoon
  Grated cheddar cheese 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)
Directions

Soak beans in the water overnight.
Next morning add dill, onion and salt.
Bring to a boil, then turn heat low; cover and cook slowly for 1 1/2 hours, or until beans are tender.
Add more water during cooking if necessary.
Drain and reserve bean juice.
Cook noodles in boiling salted water until tender.
Drain.
Measure 2/3 cup bean juice into a saucepan.
Stir in a mixture of the bacon dripping and flour.
Cook until thickened.
Add ham, sour cream, cayenne.
Combine with beans and noodles, and scrape into a greased 1 1/2-quart casserole.
Spread with a mixture of crumbs and margarine.
Bake at 350F until thoroughly heated, about 25 minutes.
Sprinkle with cheese and bake until cheese melts.
