Now this is something you are unlikely to find at a shelf at the Whole Foods store but poor Nora Weiss was not so lucky. When she bought a bunch of grapes from a Fairfield branch near her home, she found a deadly 'Black Widow' spider in the bag. No wonder that the incident has put her off the organic produce forever.

When Weiss came home and looked into her bag of organic grapes, the yoga instructor saw, to her horror that a jet-black spider was resting among the grapes. The shop had informed her that the grapes were imported from Mexico but there was no word about whether the spider was from there too or not.

The spider was still alive when she took out the grapes to wash them. As soon as she saw this, the 27-year-old woman took to Facebook to inform other shoppers in the vicinity. Her message was nothing if not alarming, "Attention all Fairfield Whole Foods Customers!!!! I just found a black widow spider in my Sunview Organic Table Grapes bag!!!! If you bought or will be buying these grapes or any other products from them, carefully inspect and wash them with rubber gloves."

A Whole Foods spokesman said that such incidents are rare and the insects are indigenous to the organic produce. He also insisted that the Whole Foods team wore gloves and inspected the produce minutely to see whether there are any such stowaways, poisonous or otherwise.

Well, in this case, the Whole Foods obviously missed the 'Black Widow.'
