No More Free Soymilk At Starbucks
Bad news for the vegan customers of Starbucks! The coffee chain has suddenly grown lactose tolerant as it revamped its Gold Card rewards program, which provides free soymilk and syrup provisions for the lactose-intolerant customers on the menu. The company has removed free soymilk from its menu. This comes amidst the news that with the Gold Card, it will become easier for Starbucks customers to earn free food or drink.
While rest of the customers can enjoy this change, those who are lactose-intolerant, and thus, forced to be vegan, this change spells trouble. Since vegans choose not to consume dairy products, the change means that the Gold Card becomes a little less attractive for them. One such customer said, “We are SHOCKED that this is ending.”
Nevertheless, those who are not lactose-intolerant, things are looking up bright and better. People, who have commented on the Starbucks website, have thanked the company for putting a “new tax on vegans.”
The company plans to introduce the new Gold Card by October 16, 2012, but if you want to, you can still register your protest or praise on the company’s website.
