Caxton Seafood Festival
The Caxton Seafood Festival is one of Australia’s finest food festivals. A haven for seafood lovers, this fest has more than just fresh seafood. Live music, arts and crafts, kid’s activities and much more can be enjoyed at this weekend long event. Nominated on Queensland's Q150 Iconic list, it began as a small community event in 1994. The Festival drew almost 15000 visitors In just 15 years. The proceeds from the tickets will be donated to several Queensland charities.
Since 2004, the Caxton Street Seafood and Wine Festival has been recognized by the Australian Performing Rights Association as “the largest independently produced Street Festival in Brisbane and arguably Queensland”.
The Caxton Seafood Festival is traditionally in May on the Sunday of the Labor Day long weekend.
The Caxton Street Seafood Festival is located on Caxton Street, only a short 200 meters away from the Suncorp Stadium and just about five or ten minutes from the Brisbane central business district.
Festival organizers support the responsible service and consumption of alcohol and encourage the use of public transport.
Tickets are available at the three box offices at Caxton Street – Harrys Fine Foods, Menzies Street and Hale Street. Price is $27 all inclusive and will be available for sale until 7pm tonight. Children under 12 years of age are free and all minors must exit the site by 5pm
The Festival will have three stages on the street and entertainment in most of the 12 Caxton Street venues in the Brisbane suburb of Paddington. The Festival focuses on local Queensland seafood and wine and for the past 17 years has featured an unparalleled line up of entertainment. Over the years, several artists such as Russell Crowe, Robbie James of Gangajang, Little Birdy, Grace Knight, Kevin Borich, Kram of Spiderbait, Dukes of Windsor, Tyrone Noonan, Diana Anaid, celebrities from Australian Idol, Big Brother and musical acts from all over Australia playing a mixture of music styles.
