Ingredients
  Soft shortening 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs) (Part Butter)
  Packed brown sugar 1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)
  Sugar 1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)
  Egg 1
  Molasses 1 Cup (16 tbs)
  Sifted all purpose flour 3 Cup (48 tbs)
  Soda 1 1⁄2 Teaspoon
  Cinnamon 1 Teaspoon
  Ginger 1 Teaspoon
  Cloves 1⁄2 Teaspoon
  Salt 3⁄4 Teaspoon
  Hot water 1 Cup (16 tbs)
Directions

Heat oven to 350 degrees.
Grease 20 medium or 12 large muffin cups.
Cream shortening, brown sugar and sugar together well.
Add egg and molasses and beat until well blended.
Sift flour, soda, cinnamon, ginger, cloves and salt together.
Add to creamed mixtu
