Miniature Pumpkin Muffins

Ingredients
  Sifted all-purpose flour 1 1⁄2 Cup (24 tbs)
  Baking powder 2 Teaspoon
  Salt 3⁄4 Teaspoon
  Sugar 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs) (plus more for sprinkling)
  Cinnamon 1⁄2 Teaspoon
  Nutmeg 1⁄4 Teaspoon
  Shortening 1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)
  Beaten egg 1
  Cooked pumpkin 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs), or canned
  Milk 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)
  Seedless raisins 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)
Directions

Sift together flour, baking powder, salt, sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg.
Cut in shortening until quite fine.
Combine egg, pumpkin, and milk; add to flour mixture and mix just until dry ingredients are moistened.
Add the seedless raisins.
Fill 1 3/4-inch or 2 1/2-inch greased muffin pans 2/3 full.
Sprinkle sugar over each muffin.
Bake in hot oven (400°) 15 to 20 minutes for small size, and about 25 minutes for medium.
