If you like playing around with different quantities of breads, this Banana Bran Bread is one you can try! The combination in this LeBanana Bran Bread is usual as well as versatile. Give it a try!
  Shortening 1⁄3 Cup (5.33 tbs)
  Honey 2⁄3 Cup (10.67 tbs)
  Bran 3⁄4 Cup (12 tbs) (Elams)
  Eggs 2
  Ripe banana pulp 1 Cup (16 tbs)
  All purpose flour 1 1⁄2 Cup (24 tbs)
  Baking powder 2 1⁄4 Teaspoon
  Salt 1⁄2 Teaspoon

Thoroughly blend the first five ingredients in a bowl.
Sift together and add flour, baking powder and salt.
Pour into a greased 8 1/2 x 4 1/2 x 2 1/2-inch loaf pan.
Bake at 350°F for 1 hour, until done.
Cool on wire rack.

I've made this recipe dozens of times over the years. It's in the 1979 book, "Best recipes from the backs of boxes, bottles, cans, and jars", by Ceil Dyer. In the book it says that Elam's had this recipe on its packaging for over a that would be around 1969.
