Chocolate Mousse

Chocolate mousse is a famous dessert enjoyed and prepared the world over. It is a very rich and creamy dessert which is served chilled. Chocolate mousse is not only the most common and popular dessert on restaurant menus but also sold as a pre-packaged confection under many brands. There are many variations of the chocolate mousse; some popular ones include Belgian chocolate mousse, brandy chocolate mousse, champagne chocolate mousse, chocolate chip mousse, etc.

 

Making Chocolate Mousse

There are many recipes for making mousse. A chocolate mousse can be made in different styles using different ingredients all depending on the chef and his or her preferences. Some basic ingredients that go into making a chocolate mousse are dark chocolate, whipping cream, gelatin, essence, milk, eggs and sugar. Eggs give the richness and body to the mousse the white and yolk are beaten separately. Chocolate is melted and mixed with yolks, sugar and gelatin. It is then mixed with whipping cream and essence. The creamy mixture is finally poured into serving moulds and chilled for setting. Some mousses have enough gelatine so that they can be demolded on a plate before serving.
