Helen's Molasses Crinkles
|Margarine||3⁄4 Cup (12 tbs)|
|Firmly packed brown sugar||1 Cup (16 tbs)|
|Unsulphured molasses||1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)|
|Wheat germ||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)|
|Sifted all purpose flour||2 Cup (32 tbs)|
|Ground cloves||1⁄2 Teaspoon|
|Ground cinnamon||1 Teaspoon|
|Whole wheat flour||1 Cup (16 tbs)|
|Granulated sugar||3 Tablespoon|
|Blanched almonds||2 Tablespoon|
Stir together the margarine and brown sugar; add the eggs and stir well.
Now mix in the molasses and wheat germ.
Sift in all-purpose flour, salt, soda, and spices, stirring until well blended; add whole wheat flour.
Chill for at least 30 minutes.
Form into balls the size of a walnut; dip into granulated sugar.
Top each with an almond.
Put on greased cookie sheets.
Bake in preheated moderate oven (375° F.) for 12 to 15 minutes.
