Baked Molasses Pudding

Ingredients
  Soft shortening 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)
  Sugar 1 Cup (16 tbs) (Granulated / Firmly Packed Brown)
  Molasses 2⁄3 Cup (10.67 tbs)
  Sifted cake flour 1 1⁄2 Cup (24 tbs)
  Salt 1⁄4 Teaspoon
  Baking soda 3⁄4 Teaspoon
  Ground ginger 1 Teaspoon
  Soft bread crumbs 1 1⁄2 Cup (24 tbs)
  Buttermilk 1 Cup (16 tbs)
  Egg 1 , beaten
  Lemon sauce 2 Tablespoon
Directions

Cream shortening and sugar until light; beat in molasses.
Sift dry ingredients and add to first mixture with crumbs and buttermilk.
Beat for 1 minute; add egg.
Pour into greased pan (8x8x2 inches) and let stand for 30 minutes.
Bake in preheated moderate oven (350°F.) for about 45 minutes.
Serve warm with Lemon Sauce, or serve cold.
