Nora's Molasses Crisps

  Molasses 1 Cup (16 tbs)
  Shortening 1 Cup (16 tbs)
  Cinnamon 1 Teaspoon
  Ginger 1 Teaspoon
  Salt 1 Teaspoon
  Soda 1 Teaspoon
  All purpose flour 2 1⁄2 Cup (40 tbs), sifted
  Sugar 1

Put molasses in saucepan and boil 2 minutes.
Remove from heat.
Add shortening, spices and salt, stir until shortening is melted, then cool.
Add soda and beat well.
Beat in flour.
Shape into 2 rolls about 1 1/2 inches in diameter.
Wrap in waxed paper and chill several hours or overnight.
Heat oven to 375 degrees.
Slice as thin as possible and put on lightly-greased cookie sheets.
Sprinkle with sugar.
Bake 5 to 7 minutes.
Cool slightly before removing from pan.
