Frosted Molasses Cream

Ingredients
  Shortening 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)
  Sugar 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)
  Egg 1 , well beaten
  Light molasses 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)
  Strong black coffee 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs) (Hot, Coffee Infusion)
  Flour 1 1⁄2 Cup (24 tbs)
  Salt 1⁄2 Teaspoon
  Baking powder 1 1⁄2 Teaspoon
  Soda 1⁄4 Teaspoon
  Cinnamon 1 Teaspoon
  Cloves 1⁄2 Teaspoon
Directions

Thoroughly cream shortening and sugar; add egg and molasses and mix well.
Add coffee and sifted dry ingredients.
Beat until smooth.
Pour into a well greased pan 9"x13".
Bake at 350° F. for 25 minutes.
While warm, frost with confectioners' frosting.
Cool.
Cut in squares.
Makes 1 1/2 dozen.
