Mincemeat Crumble Squares
|Mincemeat||9 Ounce (1 Package)|
|Water||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)|
|Chopped walnuts||1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)|
|Butter/Margarine||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs), softened|
|Grated cheddar cheese||1 Cup (16 tbs)|
|Whole wheat pastry flour||22 Tablespoon (About 1.25 Cups Plus 2 Tablespoons)|
|Wheat germ||2 Tablespoon|
|Sunflower seeds||2 Tablespoon|
Crumble mincemeat into small saucepan.
Add water; cook, stirring, until slightly thickened, 3 to 4 minutes.
Remove from heat.
Add walnuts; cool.
Add cheese and vanilla; cream together until thoroughly blended.
With pastry blender cut in 1 1/4 cups flour, wheat germ, and salt.
Divide dough in half; press half in bottom of 8 x 8 inch baking pan.
Bake at 400Â°F 6 to 8 minutes.
Add 2 tablespoons flour, sugar, and sunflower seeds to second half of dough; mix until crumbly.
Spread mincemeat evenly over baked crust.
Top with remaining dough; press lightly with fingers.
Bake at 375 Â°F to 35 minutes or until golden brown.
Cool; cut into squares.
