|Suet||1 1⁄2 Pound|
|Apples||4 Pound, chopped|
|Sugar||3 Pound (White Or Brown)|
|Citron/Any mixed dried fruit||1 Pound|
|Orange||1 , grated, juice and pulp|
|Lemons||2 , grated, juice and pulp|
|Berry jam||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs) (Any Kind)|
|Apple cider||1 Quart|
|Vinegar||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)|
|Burgundy wine||1 Cup (16 tbs)|
Grind meat, suet, raisins, citron (or dried fruit) and currants.
Add rest of ingredients.
Usually I remove seeds and membrane from oranges and lemons & grind with rest of ingredients.
Also, suet should be separated from thin tissue surrounding it.
Make about 2 weeks ahead of time and keep refrigerated until ready to use.
Pies may then be made and kept in freezer until needed.
This recipe makes about 12 pies.
Bake at 400 degrees for about 45 minutes.
