Blood Orange Margaritas
|Fresh blood orange juice/Fresh orange juice / 12 blood oranges / 8 large navel oranges||1 Quart|
|Fresh lime juice||1 1⁄2 Cup (24 tbs)|
|Cointreau/Other triple sec||1 1⁄2 Cup (24 tbs)|
|Silver tequila||3 1⁄2 Cup (56 tbs)|
|Kosher salt||To Taste|
|Blood orange/Orange wedge, plus 12 thin blood orange / orange slices||1 (for garnish)|
|Ice||1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)|
|Sage sprigs||12 Small (or leaves)|
1. In a large pitcher, combine the blood orange juice with the fresh lime juice, Cointreau and silver tequila and mix well. Refrigerate the mixture until chilled, at least 30 minutes or overnight.
2. Spread a small mound of salt on a small plate. Moisten the outer rims of 12 martini glasses with the orange wedge, and then dip the rims into the salt to lightly coat.
3. Add ice to the pitcher and stir well, then strain the blood orange margaritas into the salt-rimmed glasses. Garnish each margarita with a blood orange slice and a sage sprig and serve.
