|Lean ground beef||1 1⁄2 Pound|
|Green pepper||1 Medium, chopped|
|Onion||1 Large, chopped|
|Whole tomatoes||1 Pound, undrained|
|Tomato sauce||8 Ounce|
|Wheat germ||1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs) (Kretschmer Regular Brand)|
|Chili powder||2 Teaspoon|
|Salt||1 1⁄2 Teaspoon|
|Hot pepper sauce||1 Dash|
|Wheat germ cornbread||1 Cup (16 tbs) (1 Recipe)|
|Sharp cheddar cheese||1 Cup (16 tbs), grated|
Cook beef, green pepper and onion over medium heat until beef is lightly browned.
Stir in tomatoes, tomato sauce, wheat germ, chili powder, salt and hot pepper sauce.
Simmer while preparing the batter for Wheat Germ Cornbread.
Pour hot meat mixture into greased 3 qt. (3 L) casserole.
Spread evenly with the batter.
Bake at 400°F (200°C) for 25 to 30 minutes until corn bread is golden brown.
Sprinkle with cheese.
Bake for 2 to 3 minutes longer until cheese melts.
