Pita nachos are a healthier choice that the kids can enjoy as an after school snack. These nachos can also be as dressed up as much as youd like them to be, which makes for a great entertaining appetizer as well.

Ingredients

Pita round 2 , cut into triangles and torn in half
Salsa 1/2 Cup (8 tbs)
Shredded cheese 3/4 Cup (12 tbs)
Scallions 2 , chopped
Other ingredient
Jalapeno 10 Gram (((as needed))) (Optional)
Black beans 2 Tablespoon (((as needed))) (Optional)
Ground beef 50 Gram (((Chicken or Pork as needed))) (Optional)
Sour cream 2 Tablespoon (((as needed))) (Optional)

Directions

GETTING READY

1. Preheat broiler to high.

MAKING

2. On a baking sheet, place the pita triangles and broil for 30 seconds. Rotate the baking sheet and place back into the broiler for another 30 seconds or until the chips become lightly browned and crisp.

3. Remove the baking sheet from oven and top the pita chips with salsa, cheese and any other ingredient you like (jalapeno, black beans, ground beef, chicken or pork).

4. Place back under the broiler for about 30-45 seconds or until cheese melts.

SERVING

5. Top with scallions and/or sour cream. Serve and enjoy!

TIPS

Bake the pita chips the night before and place them in a storage bag. This will allow for the kids to safely make their own nachos and melt the cheese in the microwave.
