Cherry-Crowned Ham Loaf
|Rye bread crumbs||1 1⁄2 Cup (24 tbs)|
|Milk||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)|
|Ground ham||1 Pound|
|Ground pork||1 Pound|
|Chopped onion||2 Tablespoon|
|Snipped parsley||1⁄3 Cup (5.33 tbs)|
|Canned pitted sour cherry||16 Ounce|
|Red food coloring||1⁄4 Teaspoon|
Combine bread crumbs and milk in large bowl; add ham, pork, onion, parsley, mustard and eggs.
Mix well; pack into 1 1/2-quart round baking dish.
Bake for 1 hour at 325 to 350 degrees.
Drain cherries; reserve syrup.
Add enough water to syrup to measure 1 cup liquid.
Place liquid in saucepan; stir in corn- starch, sugar, salt, cinnamon and nutmeg.
Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until thickened and clear; add cherries and food coloring.
Cook until heated through.
Pour drippings from baking dish.
Unmold ham loaf on platter.
Top with small amount of cherry sauce.
Serve with remaining sauce.
