Beef Loaf With Wine

Ingredients
  Lean ground beef 2 Pound
  Soft bread crumbs 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)
  Chopped onion 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)
  Garlic 1 Clove (5 gm), pureed
  Eggs 2
  Salt 2 Teaspoon
  Pepper 1⁄4 Teaspoon
  Fresh tarragon/1/2 teaspoon dried tarragon / basil 2 Teaspoon, crushed
  Melted butter 1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)
  Red wine 3⁄4 Cup (12 tbs)
Directions

Mix first 8 ingredients together with 1/4 cup wine.
Pack into a loaf pan lined with wax paper and chill.
Turn out on a cookie sheet and score top with the back of a knife.
Mix together melted butter and 1/2 cup wine.
Bake loaf in preheated moderate oven (350°F.) for 1 hour, basting occasionally with butter-wine mixture.
Good with mushroom sauce or sour cream.
Makes 6 to 8 servings.
