  Bacon 2 Pound (Fresh)
  Water 1 1⁄2 Cup (24 tbs)
  Soy sauce 4 Tablespoon
  Sherry 2 Tablespoon
  Salt 1 Teaspoon
  Ginger slices 4
  Turnips 1 Pound
  Sugar 1 Teaspoon

Cut the meat into 1 1/2 inch cubes and place in a heavy saucepan with the water.
Bring to a boil and add the soy sauce, sherry, salt and ginger.
Lower the heat and simmer for an hour.
Peel the turnips and cut them about the same size as the meat with the rolling cut.
Add to the meat and continue to cook over low heat for 1/2 hour.
Add the sugar and cook for another 1/2 hour.
Serve very hot in a deep bowl.
