Baked Macaroni and Cheese
|Boiling water||8 Cup (128 tbs)|
|Sharp cheese||1⁄2 Pound, sliced|
|Evaporated milk||1 1⁄4 Cup (20 tbs)|
1. Start oven, set at Moderate, 325° F. Rub a 2-quart casserole with butter or margarine.
2. Use elbow macaroni or break the long type into 2-inch lengths. Add 2 teaspoons salt to the boiling water and drop the macaroni in. Boil 12 minutes. Drain in a colander, then rinse by pouring cold water over it; drain at once.
3. Arrange half the macaroni in the casserole. Sprinkle with 1/2 teaspoon salt, dot with half the butter or margarine, cover with half the sliced cheese. Add the rest of the macaroni, dot with the rest of the butter or margarine and salt. Top with the rest of the cheese, then pour in the milk.
4. Bake 45 minutes.
