Best Baked Macaroni And Cheese
|Macaroni||8 Ounce (1 Package)|
|Boiling water||3 Quart|
|Milk||2 Cup (32 tbs)|
|Grated sharp cheese||1⁄2 Pound (2 Cups)|
Break macaroni into 1 1/2 to 2 inch lengths.
Add salt to rapidly boiling water in a large saucepan and drop in macaroni.
Cook rapidly for about 20 minutes or until tender.
Turn into colander to drain.
Run hot water through to rinse well.
Melt butter in top of double boiler over boiling water, blend in flour, and add milk gradually, stirring until sauce is smooth and thick.
Add salt and grated cheese, and stir until cheese melts.
Arrange hot macaroni and cheese sauce in layers in a buttered casserole and bake in a moderately hot oven (400° F.) until toasted on top, 10 to 15 minutes.
