Savory Sandwich Loaf Using Day-Old Loaf
|Day old bread loaf||1|
|Lean cooked ham||6 Tablespoon, minced|
|Cream cheese||8 Ounce|
|Hard boiled eggs||2|
|Crushed sardines||6 Tablespoon|
Remove crusts from loaf and cut loaf lengthwise in five equal slices.
Butter each slice and spread the lower one with the ham mixed with enough mayonnaise to make an easy spreading consistency.
Spread the next slice with 2 oz cream cheese and place on top of the ham slice.
Spread the third slice with crushed eggs, seasoned and mixed to a spreading consistency with mayonnaise; place on top of the cheese slice.
Spread the fourth slice with sardines, place on top of the egg slice.
Put the fifth slice on top, so that it has the form of the original loaf.
Soften the remaining cream cheese with a little milk if necessary, colour if liked, and coat the top and sides of the loaf.
Decorate with slices of tomato and olives.
The loaf can be wrapped in damp, greaseproof paper and a cloth and stored in the refrigerator until required.
