Healthy Date Loaf

Ingredients
  Bran flakes 1 Cup (16 tbs)
  Dates 1 1⁄2 Cup (24 tbs), chopped
  Boiling water 1 1⁄2 Cup (24 tbs)
  All purpose flour 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)
  Whole wheat flour 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)
  Baking soda 1⁄2 Teaspoon
  Baking powder 1 Teaspoon
  Salt 1⁄2 Teaspoon
  Egg 1
  Molasses 1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)
Directions

Preheat oven to 300 °F (150°C).
Butter a loaf pan.
Set aside.
In a bowl, pour bran flakes, dates and boiling water.
Let stand 30 minutes.
In a second bowl, sift remaining dry ingredients.
Set aside.
In a third bowl, beat egg.
Add molasses.
Beat until mixture thickens.
Gradually fold in dry ingredients, alternating with bran and date mixture.
Pour into pan.
Bake in oven 50-60 minutes.
Remove from oven.
Let cool slightly.
Unmold.
