With a sharp knife, cut fruit in half lengthwise; scoop out and discard seeds.
Place papaya halves, peeled side up, on 4 dessert plates.
Slice through fruit crosswise at 1/2-inch intervals.
With flat of a knife, push down gently on back of fruit to fan out slices, or arrange in a pinwheel pattern.
Offer with lime wedges to squeeze over each portion.
